The Sweet Science of Bruising (2019)

Joy Wilkinson’s hit  play about Victorian female boxers is revived in its perfect venue: Wilton’s Music Hall.

‘...while it seems churlish to pick out a male actor’s performance for particular praise in a play all about female empowerment, Owen Brenman is especially amusing as the verbose Svengali figure who organises the bouts.’ Joe Holyoake. The Spy In The Stalls. Photo: Mitzi de Margary

Whipping It Up (2008)

On tour with Richard Wilson in Steve Thompson's hit political comedy. Laurence Olivier Award 'best comedy' runner-up directed by Terry Johnson.

'..the urbane deputy chief - superbly played by Owen Brenman.' The Scotsman

'It is a superb piece of political comedy written with an insider’s touch and, in Richard Wilson and Owen Brenman, delivered with an almost double-act of biting humour and unerring sense of timing.' Liverpool Echo

'...the weight of the satire on the capable shoulders of Owen Brenman as Alastair, the Deputy Chief Whip. He gives a rounded portrait of a man who has learned how to cope and who can accept and understand the demands of his office.' What's On Stage

'Richard Wilson, as irritable Chief Whip Fulton, and another star of the award-winning BBC sitcom One Foot In The Grave, Owen Brenman, as his suave deputy, both gave excellent performances.' Richmond Guardian

'..the Deputy Chief Whip beautifully played by Owen Brenman, who seems such the perfect Tory gentleman.' Southend Arts Council Review. Photo: Tim Watson

Owen Brenman & Ian Angus Wilkie in The Underpants

The Underpants (2006)

With Ian Angus Wilkie in Steve Martin's reworking of Carl Sternheim's 1900 German farce-Die Hose.

’There is always joy in theatreland over a television sitcom actor who repents his ways and returns to the boards. The part of Theo in The Underpants at the Old Red Lion Theatre in north London isn't likely to make Owen Brenman the sort of money he raked in as Victor Meldrew's sidekick in One Foot in the Grave, but it will, I fancy, earn him a lot more respect...Two of the Old Red Lion's shows have already transferred to the West End this year and I think that they might be able to make it a hat trick with The Underpants'.
